7 Different Ways to Repurpose Your Christmas Tree

With the Christmas holiday over, we all have our trees up to continue and extend the season.

Some of you, though, might be thinking about planning to take down your trees and get that area of your home back to normal, but what should you do with your live tree?

Especially this year trying your best to social distance and limit you and your families contact with surges happening?

Here are 7 ways to repurpose your Christmas tree with limited contact:

  1. For Mulch (how to) – yep, lay small bows over your garden bed or, if you have a small chipper at home, grind up your tree to add a layer of protection to your plants.

  2. For Wildlife habitat or sanctuary for cover from the weather or predators.

  3. As Firewood or fire starter. This sounds nice; you can get warmed up in no time. DISCLAIMER: ONLY burn real wood trees. DO NOT burn any kind of artificial trees OR real trees with any plastic, paint, or artificial-anything on them.

  4. For Garden bed edging – keep mulch, soil in place and your plants separated from garden paths using long sections of your tree or cutting into rounds to then place along paths.

  5. As Coasters – A new place to set your favorite nightly or seasonal drink. Sounds like a winner to me!

  6. As Garden Stakes – over the winter some plants might need some additional help staying upright, especially new plants (example here for Gladiolus plants to apply to any plant) that don’t have extensive root systems.

  7. Or, for Wreath or swag making – you might want to keep the holiday spirit going into the new year and also have some decorations to hold over that holiday cheer.
